Freda Louise Striker, 94, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Altercare of Bucyrus, where she had resided for the past four years.
She was born June 22, 1922 in Brokensword to the late Harvey and Louise (Laipply) Candel and was a 1940 graduate of Lykens High School. She was married to Oather James Farmer and following his death she married Warren Striker who preceded her in death in 1991. She cared for her family as a homemaker and also worked at Swan Rubber for 25 years before retiring.
Freda spent many years at Bucyrus Nazarene Church and more recently held membership at the Crestline Nazarene Church. She was very active with her TOPS Club, enjoyed going on walks, and completed many word searches through the years. Saturdays were most often reserved for shopping with her sister Wanda and she preferred quiet time when The Wheel of Fortune or The Price is Right came on.
She is survived by five children, Floyd Farmer, Sherry (Mo) Laek, Eugene Farmer, Linda Martin, and Sandra (Richard) Imbody; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Wanda Daiber and a stepson Jerry Striker.
She was preceded in death an infant son; one daughter, Ginger Brown; five brothers; and six sisters.
Funeral services for Freda will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23 at Wise Funeral Service with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating and her family will gather with friends one-hour prior. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.
