Freda J. Meade

Freda J. Meade, 61, fought a long, hard and courageous battle with cancer and was called home August 1, 2013. Her death occurred in Nashville, Tenn. where she was being cared for by her son.

Freda was born December 19, 1951 in Bucyrus to the late Robert H. and Cora J. (Grogan) Rittenberry. She lived most of her life in Bucyrus working as a waitress at various places in addition to caring for and raising her family.

Freda lived by the "Golden Rule" of doing for others as she would have others do for herself and she never met a stranger. She faithfully praised God for what she had and though her health made it difficult to get out, she enjoyed listening to and watching Sunday sermons at home. Her sons were the most important part of her life and she enjoyed watching Rob perform when able. Earlier in life, she was an avid bowler. Freda also played euchre, watched soaps along with other shows and loved being around family, especially her nieces and nephews who knew her as "Aunt Pete."

She is survived by her sons, Jeff Rittenberry of Yuma, Ariz. and Rob Skaggs of Nashville; brother, Gertis Rittenberry of Bucyrus; sisters, Betty (Virgil) Evans of Bucyrus, Shirley (Alan Hoffa) Witten of Nevada and Deb (Handford) Thoroughman of Garrison, Ky.; numerous nieces and nephews and special friends, Traci Lynn Dubel, Nikki Kegley, Stephanie (Charlie) Fulgieri, Doug Scully, Chad Armstrong, Larry and Jennifer Senters, Peggy Emick and Toni Sutton.

Freda is preceded in death by two brothers, James Clarence and Walter K. Rittenberry and two sisters, Charlene Shope and Christine Shope.

Freda's family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, August 9 at Wise Funeral Service where her funeral will be held that evening at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Brad McKibben officiating. Following her funeral, Freda will be cremated.

Her family requests memorial contributions be given to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
