Frances Laverne Oberlander, 97, formerly of Bucyrus went home to be with her Lord and Savior Friday evening, December 20, 2013 at Magnolia Place in Sarasota, Fla.
She was born in Columbus Grove, Ohio on April 20, 1916 to the late Henry and Emma (Snyder) Rinehart. She graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1934 and on September 5, 1936 married James E. Oberlander who preceded her in death May 28, 2007.
Frances will be remembered as a friend to many. She accepted Christ as her Savior as a teenager and had a strong desire to serve God. She was a longtime member of the Bucyrus First Church of the Nazarene where she taught Sunday School and was a church library volunteer.
In addition to her parents and beloved husband of 70 years, she was preceded in death by her son, David Michael Oberlander and five siblings.
Frances is survived by her daughter, Connie (Jerry) Beatty of Sarasota; daughter-in-law, Odessa Oberlander of Columbus four grandchildren, Michael David (Theresa) Oberlander of Gurnee, Ill.; Cathleen Oberlander of Iowa; David Marc (Deirdre') Beatty of Bloomfield, Mich. and Becky (Greg) Tholken of Dunlap, Tenn.; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Those wishing to pay respects may visit Wise Funeral Service on Friday, December 27 from 10-11 a.m. after which a procession will go to Oakwood Cemetery for the burial. A memorial service will also be announced at a later date.
