Esther R. Schwartz, 93, of Bucyrus, died Thursday, June 14, 2012 at Altercare of Bucyrus.
She was born November 23, 1918 in Bucyrus to the late Chester S. and Rosa M. (Ackerman) Schwartz. Esther was a 1936 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School.
Esther spent 17 years working for Dr. Kiess and then worked in the business office at Bucyrus Community Hospital for 30 years until retiring in 1984. She was a lifelong member of Epworth United Methodist Church, where she attended the Mary-Martha Sunday School Class, belonged to the United Methodist Women and was a former Sunday School teacher and Church Financial Secretary.
Esther was a very peaceful and serene lady who lived life by the "golden rule." She enjoyed her many years of volunteering at both the hospital gift shop and the Crawford Co. Board of Elections. Time spent with friends meant everything to Esther; whether traveling and cruising, camping at Lake Erie on weekends, attending OSU men's basketball games as a season ticket holder for many years or joining her fellow Golden Girls for breakfast at Bob Evans every morning but Sunday, she cherished every moment. Esther also smiled when learning of a new addition to her family and looked forward to their visits. She was a gifted seamstress and enjoyed sharing those talents with her family as well as sewing pads for area nursing homes. Esther will always be remembered for her kindness and her great sense of humor.
She is survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Lucille and Paul Wagner of Bucyrus; sister-in-law, Janet Schwartz, numerous nieces and nephews and their families as well as many close friends. In addition to her parents, Esther is reunited in Heaven with her sisters and brothers-in-law, Leona and Robert Kibler, Viola and Robert Weidemaier and her brother, Leslie Schwartz.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until 12 Noon Saturday, June 16 at the Bucyrus U.M. Church, located on the corner of Walnut St. and Warren St., where funeral services will follow, beginning at 12 Noon with Pastor Don Kraps officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
