Emma J. 'Jeanie' Rutter, 80 of Bucyrus, died peacefully Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Carlisle House after a courageous 18 month battle with colon cancer.She was born October 2, 1930 in Crestline to the late Roy and Erma (Sheckler) Rhodes. Jeanie attended Crestline High School and on December 14, 1946 married Corliss L. 'Cordie' Rutter who preceded her in death on July 4, 2007. During their 60 plus years together, they were inseparable. They owned a home in Florida at The Villages and loved wintering there, where they had so many friends but they always returned to Bucyrus to be reunited with family, whom meant everything to Jeanie.She was raised a Lutheran and while in Florida attended the Church of All Faiths. She worked for 30 years at Timken before retiring in 1989. Jeanie was a member of the Women of Moose in Bucyrus and the 3 C'™s Ohio Club in Florida. Her hobbies were crossword puzzles, reading, golfing and walking but she mostly enjoyed traveling around and watching her grandchildren participate in sporting events. Jeanie is survived by three children, Peggy (John) Paetznick of Massillon, Ohio, Judy (Rick) Miller of Bucyrus and Bill (Lynne) Rutter of New Port Ritchey, Florida; six grandchildren, Erik (Christy) Hewitt of Louisville, Ohio, Ty (Michelle) Hewitt of Waxhaw, NC, Chad (Michele) Paetznick of Suwanee, Georgia, Jay (Christina) Miller of Delaware, Ohio, Jason (Alisha) Miller of Mansfield, Ohio and Cory Rutter of Tampa, Florida; ten great grandchildren, Samantha & Alex Hewitt, Brandon & Justin Paetznick, Logan & Chase Hewitt, Lauren & Emma Miller and Lydia & Luke Miller; four sisters, Eileen DeGreve of Crestline, Alice Hunt of N. Ft. Myers, Florida, Dorothy Plyler of Pennsylvania and Peggy Taylor of Bucyrus and a sister-in-law, Dorthy Rutter of the Villages, Florida.In addition to her parents and loving husband, Jeanie is reunited with her daughter, Christie Lou Rutter; and three brothers, Homer, Howard and Harry Rhodes.Jeanie will be cremated with a memorial service to be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Wise Funeral Service with Rev. Star Sanchez officiating. Friends are invited to gather with her family one hour prior to the service and burial will follow her memorial service at Oakwood Cemetery.
