Elta “Pennie” Perrin, 94, died peacefully Monday, February 7, 2022 at Altercare of Bucyrus where she had resided since 2017.
She was born December 26, 1927 in Houston, Ohio to the late Clarence F. and Ida M. (Yagle) Keiser. The Keisers made their way to Galion where Elta grew up and attended school. She met Charles Kenneth Perrin and they were married just after her 18th birthday, on January 16, 1946. Chuck’s family nicknamed her Pennie, as they called him Kenny, and that is how she was known ever since. Mr. Perrin preceded her in death on July 10, 1999.
Pennie was a devoted homemaker who loved to travel. She and her husband had homes on Lake Erie and wintered in Lake Placid, Florida where they enjoyed golf and fishing and Pennie socialized over crafts. She golfed in the Bucyrus Country Club Women’s League, loved her hair appointments, and was a Meals on Wheels volunteer. Pennie was an active member of the former Grace UMC where she enjoyed the fellowship of her circle. She was also active in Bucyrus Modern Homemakers, Crawford County Extension Homemakers Club, and Hospital TWIG 12. Since residing at Altercare, she enjoyed their activities and visiting with residents and clergy.
Pennie is survived by daughter, Nancy (Ken) Zellner; daughter-in-law, Judith Perrin; grandchildren, Heather (Jim) Cooke, Steven Miller Jr., and Stephanie Perrin; great grandchildren, Chelsea Amber (Tim) Jacobs, Marissa Nichols, and Zach Parisian; and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband of 53 years, Pennie was preceded in death by son, Ronald Perrin; son-in-law, Steven Miller Sr.; brother, Woodrow Keiser; sister, Norma Wirick; infant siblings, Cecil, Willard, Mabel, and Mary Keiser.
Services will be held on Friday, February 11 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Family will receive friends from Noon-12:55 pm and her funeral will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made payable to Humane Society Serving Crawford County and given at the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on her Tribute Wall.
