Eloise Lydick

Eloise E. Lydick, 88, of Holmes Twp. died Sunday morning, May 12, 2013 at her home, the same home where she was born August 14, 1924 to the late Clarence and Pearl (Derfler) Musser. Her family was at her side and had been caring for her as her health declined over the past few months.

While growing up on a farm, Eloise developed a love for the routine of daily chores and schedules. She graduated from Holmes-Liberty High School in 1942. She went on to study English at Otterbein College. Eloise married her high school sweetheart, Alfred M. Lydick on August 23, 1942 sharing nearly 60 years before his death in 2002. In addition to raising her family and working on the farm, Eloise worked in downtown Bucyrus at Newberry's into the late 1970's.

Eloise is survived by three children, Diann Stinehelfer, Kathy (John) Mizick and Matt (Rita) Lydick, all of Bucyrus; eight grandchildren, Darlene (Lou) Tommelleo, Chris (Christy) Stinehelfer, Steve (Candee) Hall, Mike (Angie) Hall, Dan (Virginia) Hall, Scott Lydick, Samantha Lydick and Stephanie Brown; 12 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and countless cats, especially Bugsy.

In addition to her parents and husband, Eloise was preceded in death by her brother, Dallas Musser and sister, Mary Bartlett.

Eloise will be remembered as a woman of faith with a stubborn streak. She and Al were once active in the Oceola E.U.B. and later the Harmony U.M.C. where she enjoyed ice cream socials in the summer, taught Sunday School and led youth groups. She was still asking for her Bible to be close at hand her last few days. She loved her farm, gardening, canning, and was an accomplished seamstress. She made clothes and curtains from original patterns and also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Most of all, she loved her pets. Whenever she was away from home for any length of time at all, her thoughts would often go to her beloved animals and how they were doing. She was never one for excess, always seeing that there was just enough of everything.

The Lydick family will receive friends Wednesday, May 15 from 4-7 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where her funeral will be held Thursday, May 16 at 11:00 a.m. led by Pastor Rodney Noblit. Burial will follow in Nevada Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Homecare Matters Hospice, Humane Society Serving Crawford County or Holmes Twp. V.F.D.
