Ellen Rose Lauthers

Ellen Rose "Posie" Lauthers, 92, died May 24, 2010 at Bucyrus Community Hospital following a brief illness.

She was the daughter of the late Walter and Ruth (Hastings) Parcher, born in Bucyrus on May 12, 1918. Ellen was a 1936 graduate of North Robinson High School and on March 16, 1940 married Carl F. Lauthers who preceded her in death March 12, 1997.

Ellen was a lifelong and active member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bucyrus. She was most recently involved with the ladies quilting group and had also been a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Her employment included the former Kaynee Company prior to her marriage and many years as a cook at Colonel Crawford High School retiring in 1985. Her greatest joys were time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her wisdom, her life long love of nature, learning and reading, and her passion for flowers and gardening.

She is survived by her three sons, Clarence (Carol) Lauthers of Mansfield, Gail (Joy) Lauthers of Bucyrus, and Ronald Lauthers of Galion; three grandchildren, Steven Lauthers of Lancaster, PA and his fiancée Renee Barnett of York, PA, Amy (Marshall) Drake of Sunbury, and Chad Lauthers of Akron; four great grandchildren, Blake and Ryan Lauthers and Cameron and Kaitlyn Drake; one sister, Nellie (James) Staiger of Bucyrus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a newborn son, Lyle who died in 1942; a grandson, Kurt Lauthers who died in 2000; two brothers, Robert and Raymond Parcher; and two sisters-in-law, Betty and Ruth Parcher.

Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Friday, May 28 at Wise Funeral Service. A private burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery followed by a public memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with Pastor Don L. Neumann officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church through the funeral home.
