Eleanor McPeak

Eleanor Grace McPeak, 93, of Bucyrus died peacefully Thursday afternoon, August 5, 2015 at Heartland of Bucyrus where she lived in recent years.

She was born April 9, 1922 in Bucyrus to the late John Earl and Lillian (Dreher) McPeak. When she was young, the family spent summers on a houseboat at Buckeye Lake as her father worked as a game warden. After John’s untimely passing, Lillian raised the family in Bucyrus and Eleanor graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1940.

After working for Arthur Louis Produce, Eleanor worked in Housekeeping at Bucyrus Community Hospital, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed her family very much, having her nieces and nephew stay at her home and watching their families expand. She’ll be remembered as sweet and easy to love by the staff and residents of Heartland with whom she enjoyed frequent visits, sharing stories and doting over visiting babies. She was a member of Bucyrus United Methodist Church and the former Epworth UMC.

Eleanor is survived by nieces, Kathie (Frank) Welch of Sugarland, Texas and Cherie (Mike) Smith of Lexington; nephew, Richard (Elizabeth) McPeak of Westerville. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, James and Charles McPeak and sister, Sara McPeak.
