Eleanor I. Rehm, 91, of Bucyrus died Wednesday evening, January 18, 2012 at Altercare of Bucyrus after becoming ill over the past few months.
She was born May 10, 1920 in Bucyrus to the late Loren and Mabel (Ulmer) Light and grew up in Sulphur Springs where she graduated with distinction from high school in 1938. She married Wayne A. Rehm on May 26, 1946 and shared 21 years of marriage before his death in June of 1977.
Eleanor was a strong, independent woman who enjoyed following sports. She collected news clippings and photos of her friends and family and enjoyed being on the go whenever able. She worked at Love's Restaurant during school, then North Electric and was a Fuller Brush representative. After Wayne's death, she began working at Burcliff Industries from which she retired after 27 years and became close friends with a number of co-workers. Eleanor looked forward to attending Community Concerts, Bucyrus Little Theatre productions and concerts in Aumiller Park each summer. She was a member of the former St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Sulphur Springs and Women of the Moose.
Eleanor is survived by four children, Terry Rehm of Bucyrus, Debra (Ronald) Leonhardt of Joliet, Ill., Kyle Rehm and Tracy (Cheryl) Rehm, both of Bucyrus; seven grandchildren, Christopher Rehm, Shawn (Jessie) Rehm, Aaron (Aury) Leonhardt, Dustin (girlfriend, Deanna) Leonhardt, Kelsee Rehm, Liza (Noah) Blankenship and Brock (Adrenne) Kemery; 13 great grandchildren, Nick & Danielle Rehm, Heather (Mark) Brown, Stevie & Mark Williams, Bryson Rehm, Justice & Mike Leonhardt, Austin & Kenton Lutz, Anderson Blankenship and Cedric & Addison Kemery; one great-great granddaughter, Brooklyn; brother, Herbert (Ruth) Light of Sulphur Springs; niece, Kay Bloom; great niece, Megan Bloom and her best friend, Annabelle Stinehelfer. The Rehm family was especially grateful for the care she received from Angie Wells in recent months.
The Rehm family will receive friends from 12 Noon-2 p.m. Saturday, January 21 at Wise Funeral Service before proceeding to Oakwood Cemetery for a graveside funeral service with Rev. Harold L. Hasenauer officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Crawford County Community Concert Association, American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
