Dorothy M. Miller

Dorothy Mae Miller, 84, of Bucyrus passed away Tuesday morning, July 15, 2014 at Bucyrus Community Hospital.

She was born January 24, 1930 on Gaius St. in Bucyrus, the only child of the late Robert B. and Ada E. (Rossman) Hites. Dorothy graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1948. During her teens, she worked on Saturdays at the candy counters of FW Woolworth Co. and JJ Newberry Co. Following graduation, she worked as a receptionist for Dr. Lingerfelter and later, Ohio Locomotive Crane Co. Dorothy met Wilbur H. Miller on a double date and they were married January 6, 1952 and moved to the family farm where they raised their two children.

The Miller’s lives were forever changed in March of 1959, when they asked Jesus into their hearts as Savior during a revival meeting at Mt. Zion Church. Dorothy’s faith was very important to her. She enjoyed spreading the gospel as a member of the Gideons Auxiliary and attending church at Wayside Chapel. She was a member of the Crawford County Genealogical Society and spent countless hours tracing her lineage. Dorothy also enjoyed meeting with the Mt. Zion Mothers Club, sewing, knitting, needlework, gardening, and watching and feeding hummingbirds.

Dorothy is survived by Willie Miller, her husband of 62 years; two children, Dennis Lee (Connie) Miller of Wyandot and Sandra (Rodger) Robertson of Doylestown; four grandchildren, Nathan (Traci) Miller of Lynchburg, Va., John Miller of Wyandot, Amy Robertson of Cleveland Hts. and Laura Robertson of Greentown.

The Miller Family will receive friends on Thursday, July 17 at Wise Funeral Service from 4-7 p.m. and on Friday from 10-11 a.m. The funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Wise Funeral Service with Pastor Tim Compton officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
