Dorothy Hoch, 82, of Bucyrus died Thursday, June 2, 2011 at Mill Creek Nursing Home in Galion.

She was born September 6, 1928 in Crawford County near Glenville to the late Elmer and Ruth (Simpson) Kent. Dorothy attended a number of area schools, graduating from Holmes Liberty in 1947. She married Robert Hoch on June 17, 1971 and he preceded her in death in 1980.

Dorothy was a generous, organized lady who gave of herself to take care of friends and family. She enjoyed traveling all over Ohio with friends, seeking new restaurants to enjoy and places to sight see. When at home, she enjoyed caring for her pets, solving jigsaw puzzles with company, reading, cooking great meals and entering every sweepstakes that came along since 1967 in hopes of hitting it big. In her younger years, Dorothy enjoyed swimming and competitive ballroom dancing.

Dorothy worked as a senior accounting analyst for Galion Dresser, retiring in 1983, and as a home healthcare provider after retirement. She attended the Mansfield School of Nursing and Arthur Murray Dance School. She held memberships in VFW Post 4329 and Eagles Aerie 630 in Galion, AMVETS Post 27 in Bucyrus, and Windfall UCC.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Peggy Davidson of Marengo; brother, Jerry Kent of Fort Myers, Fla.; grandchildren, Rhonda (Andrew) Howell and Robert (Elizabeth) Davidson; great grandchildren, Lincoln, Landon & Layne Howell and Clayton, Jacob & Emma Davidson; stepdaughter, Linda (Roger) Harvey of Salem, Ore.; step-grandchildren, Brenda Pantaleon and Ricky Harvey; and four step great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Elmer Kent, Jr. and twin sister, Dodie Kent.

Friends may call Tuesday, June 7, from 12-2 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Council on Aging, Disabled American Veterans or Crawford County Humane Society through the funeral home.
