Dorothy "Dolly" Neubacher

Dorothy "Dolly" Neubacher, 93, formerly of Bucyrus died Wednesday night, August 17, 2011 at The Forum at Knightsbridge in Columbus.

She was born January 18, 1918 in Homestead, Pa. to the late Joseph and Mabel (Anderson) Redshaw. She graduated from Munhall High School in 1936. After graduation, she aspired to be a pilot, but her father thought it best to send her to Miss Conley's Finishing School. She met Edward Neubacher at her cousin's wedding, fell in love and then shared 57 years of marriage before his death in 1996.

Dolly is survived by two daughters, Judith L. (Douglas) Hoover of Bucyrus and Rebecca J. Neubacher of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Joyce Neubacher of Bucyrus; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, James E. Neubacher; brother, Earl Redshaw and sister, Marilyn Smith.

Dolly was devoted to the care of her family and home, teaching them to love and live life to the fullest. She and Edward were proud to have built their home on Beal Ave. and valued friendship and gatherings with their neighbors. They loved to dance and in later years enjoyed summers on Lake Erie and winters in Florida. She was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church and volunteered for some of the early Bratwurst Festivals.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, August 22 at Wise Funeral Service with Pastor David Bliss officiating. The Neubacher family will begin receiving friends one hour prior at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association through the funeral home.
