Doris M. Frankenfield, 95, of Lykens Twp., passed peacefully Friday, November 18 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
She was born May 27, 1927 at home in Lykens Twp. to the late Russell C. and Edith M. (Beam) Shade. Doris graduated from Lykens High School and on July 6, 1947 married Harley E. Frankenfield. Doris was very supportive of Harley’s business, Frankenfield Trucking and they shared many adventures and good conversations while hauling livestock back home from West Virginia. Following his death in 1975, she worked at Landmark in Attica until they closed operations and finished her work career at the Lykens Elevator.
She was a member of the former Lykens UMC where she taught Sunday School and currently attended Bucyrus UMC. Doris enjoyed her church family and always looked forward to receiving handmade cards. She was also a member of the Brokensword Cemetery Association and very active with the Lykens Community Club, serving various offices and always looked forward to time spent with fellow community ladies.
Doris enjoyed family gatherings, especially around the holidays and shared many travels with family and friends. When the weather was nice, she was often found puttering around her yard, tending to her flowers and vegetables, and canned much of what she grew. Doris’ other hobby was plastic canvas, and she created several pieces and tissue boxes as gifts for others.
Doris is survived by daughter, Sharon Frankenfield; sister-in-law, Betty Shade; nephews, Bill (Peggy) Shade, Richard (Gina) Shade, Mike (Ruth) Shade and Kenneth Shade; niece, Maryann (Kevin) Bryden and many extended family members. She will be missed by close friends; Rita Stucky, Rhonda (Dale) Risley, Raelene Stucky, Doug Stucky and Darrin Stucky, all whom she considered family.
In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death by brothers, Robert Shade and Elven “Shorty” Shade as well as a niece, Phyllis Waring.
Visitation will be held from 5 -7 pm Monday, November 21 at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St. Bucyrus, where her funeral service will take place at 11:00 am Tuesday with Pastor Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Brokensword Cemetery.
If desired, donations can be made payable to Bucyrus UMC; Humane Society Serving Crawford County or to OhioHealth Hospice. These gifts will be accepted through the funeral home and expressions of sympathy can be shared on her tribute wall.
