Donald Harold Hardymon

Donald Harold Hardymon, 76, of Bucyrus, died September 8, 2010 at Grant Medical Hospital due to injuries sustained in a fall. Don was born May 27, 1934 in Vanceburg, KY to the late Albert and Mary (Fannin) Hardymon. He served in the United States Air Force and worked in the motor pool stationed in Texas. On April 17, 1955 he married Hazel Meadows who survives. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by his children Patricia (Joseph) Myers of Newark, Debra (Jim) Roberts of Shelby, Ricky (Donna) Hardymon of Ridgeton, Daniel (Michelle) Hardymon of Bucyrus; 23 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; brothers Charles (Norma) Hardymon of Nevada, Albert Hardymon of IN; Mike Hardymon of Edan; sisters Lorene (Henry) Ginn of Vanceburg, KY; Linda Cook of OK; as well numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Wilford, Carl, Charles Jr., and two infant brothers; sisters Thelma Hardymon, Juanita Treese and Mary Bayles; grandchildren Velenia Hoffman and Angela DeLong. Don came to Bucyrus from Vanceburg via Michigan in search of work. He found employment at Crawford Nursery before being employed as a maintenance man at Swan Rubber Hose for 42 years retiring in 1996. He was a very active person and enjoyed fixing things. He was an avid bowler belonging to many teams and leagues over the years. He enjoyed billiards, farming, fishing and hunting. Don loved his family very much. He was a cancer survivor as well. He was a member of Gospel Baptist Church and the American Legion Post 181. Friends may call at Wise Funeral Service Monday, September13, 2010 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM where a funeral will be held Tuesday at 10:30 AM with Pastor Monty Trammel officiating. Burial will follow at Whetstone Cemetery with Full Military Honors provided by American Legion Post 181. Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society, Parkinson'
