Donald E. Hill

Donald Eugene Hill, 69, of Bucyrus died Thursday morning, November 1, 2012 at his home after a brief, but courageous bout with cancer.

He was born May 31, 1943 in Vanceburg, Ky. to the late Lloyd and Myrtle (Teddy) Hill. He graduated from Lewis County (Ky.) High School and married the love of his life, Ellen Brown, on November 7, 1964.

Donald moved to Bucyrus to work for Swan Rubber where he labored for 44 years. He was a hardworking, old-fashioned guy who was brutally honest and abhorred dishonesty. When not at work, he loved being at home where he looked forward to completing the daily crossword, playing electronic poker or Scrabble and watching television. He enjoyed watching western movies, football and baseball especially the Bengals, Reds and UK football. In his younger years, Donald liked to fish and hunt both game and mushrooms.

In addition to his bride of 48 years, Donald is survived by three children, David Russell (Tywana) Hill, Robin Branham and Anthony Wayne Hill, all of Bucyrus; four grandchildren, David Hill, Shelbi Hill, April Rowe and Adam Branham; three great grandchildren, Alisha Rowe, Aryanna and Leah Branham; two sisters, Corrine Hobbs of Enon and Ramona Asher of Galion and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He will also be missed by Rocky, the family dog he taught to get his daily paper.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers and one sister.

Funeral services for Mr. Hill will be held Monday, November 5 at 12 Noon at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus with Chaplain Jed Brake officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the funeral from 10 a.m. until 12. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial donation may be given to Ellen Hill through the funeral home.
