Dixie Farmer, 71, of Bucyrus died December 28, 2010 at Louis Stokes VA Hospital in Cleveland surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Buchanan, Virginia on July 4, 1939 to the late Marvin and Hettie (Stevens) Farmer and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps . He moved to Bucyrus and on December 8, 1965 married Ruby Rose who survives him.
Dixie is also survived by his three children, Marlene (Daniel) Fox, Elcie (Chris) Robinette and Marvin Farmer, all of Bucyrus; three grandchildren, Britny Fox, Ashley Farmer and Jordan Robinette; two brothers, Jimmy (Beverly) Farmer and Clinton (Joyce) Farmer, both of Virginia; and four sisters, Connie (Chuck) Perkins, Evonne (Lincous) Perkins, Christine (Sherman) Boyd and Hettie Farmer, all of Virginia.
Dixie was a member of Col. Crawford Post 181 American Legion and a big Dale Earnhardt fan. He collected eagles, spoiled his grandchildren who meant the world to him and loved every minute he was able to spend with his family.
Friends may call 1:00 – 2:15 p.m. Thursday, December 30 at Wise Funeral Service before proceeding to Oakwood Cemetery for a graveside service with full military rites being provided by American Legion Post 181. Memorial contributions may be given to Gifts for Yanks through the funeral home.
