Dianne K. Lyons, 64, of Bucyrus died Monday, April 9, 2012 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus following a valiant fight with cancer.
She was born April 18, 1947 in Flint, Mich. to the late Frank Cooper and June Kaimon, living in Bucyrus. She attended Leslie (Mich.) High School, then began raising a family as a devoted mother. On July 31, 1978, she married Charles Lyons who survives.
Dianne had a zeal for life and love for people. She had a strong desire and family legacy to work in medicine where she could help people so she returned to finish high school, earning her diploma from Leslie High in 1976. She went on to work as a medical assistant in doctors' offices in Marion, Bucyrus and New Washington where she made many friends and was known as a tireless worker. She enjoyed going out to eat and could be a prankster, but her family always knew when they disappointed her when they received "the look." Her gift of connecting with people was second to none and, despite having a number of friends, she could connect with everyone individually, always knowing just what to say and having a genuine interest in what was going on in people's lives.
Dianne loved children. She was on the 4-H Horse Council and Ridin' High advisor. She also enjoyed supporting Relay for Life events and worshipping with the Scioto United Methodist Church family. Her proudest accomplishment was certainly her family. She raised children for 46 years, loved her grandchildren and loved keeping up with everything in their lives.
Dianne is survived by husband, Charlie; mother, June Kaimon; children, Troy Beers of Bucyrus, Dana (Michael) Traxler of Galion, Carl Darin (Gabi) Beers of Ijamsville, Md., Brooke Lohr of Bucyrus, Sara (Scott) Baldosser, Tina (Brian) Shell, both of New Washington, and Natalie Lyons of Bucyrus; 15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; brothers, Ron "Craig" (Dawn) Cooper of Fowlerville, Mich., Lon (Nancy) Cooper of Killeen, Texas and Kurt (Harumi) Cooper of Pinckney, Mich. and many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her dog, Katie, and grand-dog, Wyatt.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Alice Cooper; stepfather, Chuck Kaimon; and niece and nephew, Kimmy and Robbie Cooper.
Dianne's body will be cremated and her family will receive friends at a memorial gathering Friday, April, 13 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Scioto UMC, 5196 S.R. 4 North of Bucyrus where a Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Glory Geib officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Scioto UMC or BCH Auxiliary (to assist oncology patients with travel expenses) through Wise Funeral Service.
