David V. Graham, 88, died Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Bucyrus Community Hospital after a month of failing health.
He was born July 19, 1933 in Bucyrus to the late David E. and LuEtter (Holland) Graham and attended Mt. Zion and Holmes Liberty Schools before moving to town and graduating from Bucyrus High School in 1951. He enlisted in the US Navy and served as an aviation mechanic from 1951-1953. After returning, he married his high school sweetheart with whom he shared birthdays, Kay McKinley on September 16, 1955. They shared 57 years of marriage when she preceded him in death on October 5, 2012.
He worked for The Timken Co. before joining Cully Music Co. where he maintained machines and retired in 1990. He and Kay then moved to Bradenton, Florida before returning to Bucyrus in 2001 to be with their grandchildren. David loved to golf and was an avid sports fan. He followed Ohio State and Cleveland’s professional sports teams, coached Little League for over 20 years, and was president of the Bucyrus HS Athletic Boosters. David was a Life Member and longtime trustee of Elks Lodge 156, Life Member of AmVets Post 27, American Legion Post 181, and VFW Post 1078.
David is survived by children, Debi Gebhardt and David “Cully” (Amy) Graham; grandchildren, Jennifer (Charles) Harvey, Christopher (Alexis) Gebhardt, Alix (Emily) Gebhardt, Taylor (Andrew) Eichenberger, and Madison (Joe) Oleksiak; great grandchildren, James Harvey and Kennedy & Kayden Gebhardt; sister-in-law, Joyce Graham; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, David was preceded in death by siblings, Ruth (Don) Miller, Gertrude (Paul) Bechtel, David I. Graham, Chuck Graham, and Wilbur (Carol) Graham.
The Graham family will gather privately to lay David to rest in Oakwood Cemetery.
