Darrel F. Green

Darrel Frank Green, 78, of Bucyrus died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Heartland of Bucyrus after two years of battling complications from cancer.



He was born in Crawford County on February 28, 1937 to the late Frank H. and Delsie (Edgington) Green and graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1955. Growing up, he helped on the farm and he worked for the John Deere implement in Bucyrus after high school. He met Janet Eileen Volkmer in the summer of ’61 and they were married October 12, 1961. Darrel drove trucks for The Timken Company’s distribution division until retirement.



Darrel will best be remembered as a hard worker. He and Janet had the opportunity to drive most of the United States, with family vacations to the Grand Canyon and California. He liked to kid around and was ambidextrous, writing answers to questions backwards or upside down and he played a pretty tough game of HORSE. At home, he enjoyed relaxing in his easy chair to old movies, a good book, or a word search puzzle. He and Janet have belonged to the Bucyrus Nazarene Church for many years.



Darrel is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet Green; four children, Brent (Rachel) Green, Trent Green, Tracy Green, and Kent Green; five grandchildren, Brandon, Andrew, Cody, Koneta, and Nigel Green; two great grandchildren, Jake and Ella; and two sisters, Betty Jean (Paul) Ayers and Doris Green, both of Arizona.



In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Shonda Nicole; brother, Ralph Green; and an infant brother.



The Green family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 3 from 4-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Graveside funeral services will be on Thursday at 3:00 pm in Brokensword Cemetery with Pastor Ray LaSalle officiating.
