Daniel Lee Thomas Sr.

Daniel Lee Thomas, Sr., 68, of Bucyrus died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Altercare of Bucyrus after years of failing health.



He was born in Nevada, Ohio on July 19, 1948. One of 14 children of the late Ralph and Mary Elizabeth (Staats) Thomas. Danny attended Nevada Schools and worked a number of places including the City of Galion and self-employment. His passions were his family and singing country music. Danny sang and played guitar everywhere, whether in restaurants, bars, camping, or at home. He would often be mistaken for a jukebox when singing George Jones songs. At home, he watched a lot of History Channel and seldom missed an OSU football game. He loved to cook and eat and will especially be remembered for his ham and delicious baked beans (with lots of bacon, of course). He recently came to faith in Christ and was baptized through Victory in Truth Ministries.



Danny is survived by his wife, Mary Jane; four children, Rita (Randy) Kalb, Leona (Mick) Tanner, Daniel Jr., and Jennifer Lynn; stepsons, Scott (Penny) Craft, Todd Craft, and Michael Wilburn; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four brothers, Sonny, Mike, Marvin, and Steve; six sisters, Ruby, Darlene, Juanita, Elaine, Linda, and Tina; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ivan, Glen, and Gene.



Friends may call at Wise Funeral Service on Monday, November 21 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm when the funeral service will begin Pastor JC Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
