He was born August 9, 1918 in New Washington to the late John and Amanda (Hoss) Loy. Clinton graduated from Chatfield High School in 1937. He was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran in New Washington and currently a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church. He married the former Alice Shroll on August 9, 1941 and they shared nearly 58 years of partnership until her death in April, 1999.

Clinton is survived by two children, Robert (Mary) Loy of Bucyrus and Marjorie (Orville) Brock of South Charleston, Ohio; five grandchildren, Amanda Loy and husband Mat Ford, John (Sylvia) Loy, Matthew Loy, Evan (Amy) Brock and Molly Brock; one great granddaughter, Lila Brock; sister, Dorothy Zucker of Bucyrus and sister-in-law, Iva Shroll of Oceola.

In addition to his parents and wife, Clinton was preceded in death by brothers, Elwood and Richard Loy and sister, Frieda Loy.

Clinton was a quiet, unassuming, hardworking and determined man. He loved farming and family and never thought of himself as retired, continuing to supervise the work on his land long after his hands stopped doing the physical labor. He also enjoyed traveling with Alice, visiting such places as Las Vegas, Hawaii, Mexico and going west to see Yellowstone and other landmarks, always remembering to stop along the way in Iowa or Nebraska to check on their crops. In his later years, he enjoyed eating out every day at various local eateries and visiting the friends with whom he crossed paths.

The Loy family will receive friends Friday, July 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service where the funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. with Gene Luidhardt, S.A.M. officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
