Clifford E. Young

Clifford E. Young, 96, died Friday, February 21, 2025 at Altercare of Bucyrus where he was being cared for after recent illness and years of failing health.

He was born February 23, 1928 in Lewis County, Kentucky to the late Earl and Nora (Blankenship) Young. The Youngs made their way to Crawford County in 1936 and Cliff graduated from Mt. Zion High School in 1947. He worked for Underwood Garage before joining the workforce of Galion Iron Works from which he retired. Cliff served in the National Guard from 1948-1951 and also farmed for Clinton Loy for over 20 years.

Cliff will be remembered as an avid golfer. He took up the game in his 40s and was fortunate to hole two eagles over his lifetime. His love of the game also led him to volunteer to work the gates at The Memorial Tournament in Dublin for 18 years. Cliff was blessed to travel, visiting every state except Hawaii, most of Canada where he loved to fish, Mexico, and the Bahamas.

Many will remember his love of dominoes and cards. Many competitive games of pinochle and euchre were held at home, the Moose Lodge, and Buck’s Place. At home, he tinkered a lot, putting all his tools to good use, watched old westerns, and he loved to mow, taking amazing care of his lawn. Watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports was another favorite pastime.

Cliff is survived by daughter, Rebecca Stormer; son, David Young; daughter-in-law, Valerie Kirkpatrick; four grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Daniel and Timothy Young; son-in-law, Larry Stormer; and brothers, Othel, Clyde, Harry, Richard, Coy, and Herbert Young.

All services will be held on Thursday, February 27 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Friends may call from 11:30 am – 12:55 pm and the funeral will begin at 1:00 pm with Certified Celebrant, Lisa Snyder officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made payable to Fresenius Kidney Care Center and given through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of Cliff’s tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
