Clifford G. Beck, Sr., 79, of Bucyrus spent his first Easter in Heaven! He died Friday evening, March 29, 2013 at Bucyrus Community Hospital.
He was born May 6, 1933 in Marion to the late Fred and Nellie (Robinson) Beck, the family moved to Lorain and eventually to Chatfield where Cliff graduated from high school. He went to work for GE until his health forced an early retirement. He then operated Beck's Gun Shop from his home having been an avid gun collector, trader and enthusiast his entire life and member of the National Rifle Association.
Cliff married the former Susan Nutter on July 18, 1969. He loved her dearly and was proud to have her on his arm every spring at the Senior Citizen Prom. Susie survives along with eight children, Nellie (Cass) Foster, Clifford (Teri) Beck Jr., Kathy (Greg) Hildebrand, Michael Beck, Joseph (Jean) Beck, Melodie (Mike) Fagan, Brenda (Pat) Murray and Eric (Melanie) Beck; 20 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Cliff was preceded in death by siblings, Naomi Clifton, Genevieve Riffee, Fred Beck and an infant brother.
Cliff will be remembered as a funny, wonderful, encouraging and godly patriarch of his family. He always had something positive to say and never shied away from testifying of his miraculous conversion to Jesus Christ in 1977 and the positive change it had on his life and that of his family. In the years since, he praised the Lord through countless trials, always content to leave his worries in God's hands and live a life of peace. He looked forward to his daily devotions, worship and small group studies with First Alliance Church. Cliff loved God's Word and world missions. He visited Haiti in 1992 and was honored to distribute Bibles as a Gideon.
Cliff was a master gunsmith whose work was known by hunters, competition shooters and collectors alike. He enjoyed having friends over in the shop to shoot the breeze as well as an occasional game of pool. His family knew him as someone who could fix anything. His grandchildren even dubbed his shop as "Pappy's Fix-It Shop."
