Cleo Elmer Noblit, 92, of Bucyrus died Saturday morning, September 23, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Noblit was born June 25, 1925 in Bucyrus to the late Elmer R. and Myrtle (Green) Noblit. He was married April 17, 1949 to Lela Marie Gearhart who survives.
Also surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas Allen and Kathy Marie (Seits) Noblit of Mt. Vernon; granddaughter, Emily (David) Hite of Centerburg; great granddaughter, Mazie Ellen Hite; brother, Donald (Nina) Noblit of Butler; and sister, Eunice Mauler of Bucyrus. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Kenneth and Richard Noblit.
Mr. Noblit had been employed with The Timken Company 34 years, retiring in 1985. He had lived his entire life in the community and was a 1943 graduate of Mt. Zion High School. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and served on the church council for many years. Mr. Noblit was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in Japan.
Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Friday, September 29 at Wise Funeral Service with his grandnephew, Pastor Rodney Noblit officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the funeral from 11-11:50 am. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with military rites by the US Army and American Legion Post 181 Honor Guards.
Donations may be made payable to the American Red Cross (Crawford County Chapter) or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and given through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on Mr. Noblit’s Tribute Wall.
