Christine H. Sheldon, 65, of Bucyrus died early Friday, August 30, 2019 at her home under the care of her family and HomeCare Matter Hospice. She was diagnosed with cancer in April.
She was born April 16, 1954 in Crane Twp., Wyandot County. The youngest child of the late Fred and Helen (Stewart) Kopp. Christine graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1974 before having a family. After a brief courtship, she married Douglas R. Sheldon on January 24, 1981 and raised their family as a homemaker in Lykens and Bucyrus.
Christine will be remembered for her deep faith, love of family, and her big heart. One could say she was pretty stubborn too. She and Doug enjoyed being outdoors and camping. They were looking forward to settling as year-round campers after retirement. At home, Christine was usually sipping on coffee and she gave great attention to her flower gardens and loved decorating with lighthouses. She also loved birds and had a nice collection of cardinals and other glassware. Facebook and other computer games often kept her busy while she kept up with current events and politics by watching the news. She kept her family on their toes with funny nicknames and surprising them with her “Moves like Jagger.”
Christine is survived by her husband of 38 years, Doug Sheldon; children, Isaac (Nikita) Homan, Raelynn Skelton, and Cody Sheldon, all of Bucyrus; grandchildren, Theresa, Shy, Kain, and Paige Homan, Starla Johnson, and Jeramiah and Lacee Skelton; great grandchildren, Kayden and Kodan; and sisters, Virginia Martin, and Bette Main.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Mitchel Homan; sister, Rosemary Putnam, and infant twin siblings.
A private gathering was held for Christine’s immediate family. If you would like to remember her with a memorial gift, please consider making them payable to HomeCare Matters Hospice or a charity of your choosing. Gifts can be given through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.
Memories and photos can be shared on Christine’s Tribute Wall.
