Charles A. Ahlefeld

Charles A. Ahlefeld, 73, died Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Bucyrus Community Hospital.

He was born December 15, 1941 in Bucyrus to the late David L. and Marjorie H. (Metzger) Ahlefeld. Chuck attended school at Holmes Liberty and married Dianne M. Linn on February 14, 1970. Dianne survives and will cherish the many wonderful experiences spent with Chuck.

Chuck was a hard working individual who enjoyed many years working at National Limestone Quarry where he retired following 30 plus years. When not working, he preferred being at home with his family and pets. One of his favorite things to do was to give his grandchildren and pets golf cart rides around the house. He liked to tinker with and fix things and he also dabbled in woodworking. Chuck loved camping at places such as Sunset Springs, Auburn Lake and October Hill and there was always a campfire to relax by and share stories. He and Dianne spent many days in Amish Country, a place that provided him so much joy that at one time he wanted to set up a booth to sell things.

Chuck maintained a strong faith in God and was a member of St. John’s UCC. He was a former member of both the Bucyrus Lions Club and Jaycees

In addition to Dianne, his wife of 45 years, Chuck is survived by two children, Craig (Aubray) Ahlefeld of Galion and Bekki Kriner of Bucyrus; six grandchildren, Carson, Jayden, Addisyn and Kamdyn Ahlefeld and  Elliott and Erynne Kriner along with one step brother, Allen (Marlene) Walton of New Hampshire.  Chuck is preceded in death by his step-mother, Arlene Ahlefeld whom he was close with.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 12 at St. John’s UCC with Rev. Steven E. Voelker and Rev. Gary Schiefer officiating. Chuck’s family will gather with friends one hour prior to his memorial service and a private burial will take place in Brokensword Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to St. John’s UCC.
