Carol Ann Lohr, age 78, of Bucyrus passed away on February 19, 2025 surrounded by her family at Westbrook Assisted Living under the care of Heartland Hospice.
Carol was born at Bucyrus Community Hospital, on May 12, 1946, to the late James and Lena (Walker) Mayes. On September 28, 1968, Carol married Ronald Tischer. They lived in Galion before his passing in 1978. On February 26, 1981, she married Elwood Lohr, with whom she shared a loving marriage until his passing in 2008.
Carol will be remembered for her sassy, no nonsense (well, maybe a little nonsense) approach to life. She truly loved people and her Savior, Jesus Christ. Carol spent over 40 years in the nursing profession before retiring from Avita Homecare and Hospice. Her dedication to really listening and comforting her patients brought her joy. She always loved gardening. She started Lohr’s Produce on the edge of Nevada. Carol never met a stranger and loved talking to all the customers. She loved traveling, enjoying family restaurants and finding unique bakeries. If you needed to know where to find a good donut, she was your go-to gal.
Carol and her husband Elwood raised sheep and enjoyed watching their children show nationally. She never missed attending birthday parties, graduations, livestock shows, sporting events and major life achievements of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is a member of Bucyrus Nazarene Church and attended Trinity Evangelical in recent months since moving to Upper Sandusky.
Carol's greatest joy was spending time with her daughters: Ronda Tischer, Michelle Tischer, Lisa (Nick) Horning and her stepdaughters Sandy Clayman, Jackie Wood and Linda (Dan) King. Carol’s pride shone with her grandchildren, Austin (Deanna) Yingling, Nicholas (Ashley) Smith, Hayden, Harper, Haisley Horning along with her step grandchildren. Carol is also survived by two brothers Jim (Debbie) Mayes and Mark (Mavelle) Mayes and their families.
All services will be held at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Family will receive friends on Monday, February 24 from 4-7 pm and her funeral will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Iberia Cemetery.
Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to make it payable to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, OSIA LEAD (Sheep Organization), or Heartland Hospice and give through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on the guestbook of her tribute page at www.wisefuneral.com.
