Carol Ann DeWolf, 70, of Bucyrus, died Monday, December 8, 2014 at Fairhaven Community following a lengthy illness.
She was born on January 3, 1944 in Bucyrus, Ohio to the late Donald and Gladys (Downing) Heminger. Carol was a 1961 graduate of Bucyrus High School and went on to receive her hairstylist certificate from the Ohio State Beauty Academy. She was the owner and operator of Shafer’s Beauty Salon where she helped make many women feel better about their appearance until her retirement.
Carol enjoyed keeping an orderly home and spending Spring days in her flower garden. She and her husband visited many garage sales and flea markets, always finding something they really didn't need. Carol also enjoyed relaxing with her English bulldog “Mack” while watching her game shows, Wheel of Fortune being her favorite.
Carol belonged to the local beauty association and also was active in the local diabetic support group being she was a longtime diabetic.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, David E. DeWolf; a step-daughter, Denise Hinson and a brother, Tom (Marcia) Heminger.
Carol’s funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 11 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus with Pastor Becky King officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until the service begins. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Diabetes Association through the funeral home.
