Carl L. Pensinger

Carl L. Pensinger, 86, died peacefully Thursday, August 4, 2022 at the home of his son under the care of Avita Hospice.



He was born in Crestline on September 24, 1935 to the late Carl W. and Marjorie M. (Coleman) Pensinger. After marrying his best friend, Patricia Benedict, on January 30, 1953, Carl graduated from Whetstone High School in 1954 where he excelled playing every sport. He worked 14 years for Chandler Plaster before joining The Timken Co. for 31 years until retiring in 1996. He and Pat were married 64 years when she preceded him in death in January 2017.



Carl will be remembered for his strong will and doing things his way. He was proud of both his and his family’s accomplishments. An avid sports fan, he played, coached, cheered, and followed his family and the Cleveland Indians and Browns. He played softball, golfed, and bowled. He was also an avid fisherman with annual trips to their cabin on Manitoulin Island, Canada since 1972. He and Pat loved to travel, danced in their younger years, and played a lot of Euchre. When he wasn’t watching sports at home, Carl found time to paint several beautiful landscapes.



Carl is survived by his sons, Mike Pensinger and Scott (Diane) Pensinger; 6 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; former daughter-in-law, Deb Redmon; and sisters, Cathi Lenhart and Bambi Ehasz.



In addition to his parents and wife Pat, Carl was preceded in death by son, Jeff Pensinger; daughter-in-law, Tina Pensinger; and siblings, Robert Pensinger, Ronald Pensinger, Guy Pensinger, and Judy McDonald.



Services for Carl will take place on Saturday, August 6 at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where family will receive friends from 11 am – 12:55 pm and the funeral will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
