Brian D. Short

Brian Short, 59, of Oceola, died most likely from a broken heart having recently lost his wife earlier this year. His death occurred at his home on Thursday, August 5, 2021.



He was born April 23, 1962 in Bucyrus to the late Michael P. Short and Judith A. (Gobrecht) Short who survives in Bucyrus. On December 31, 1983, Brian married Katie (Miller) Short, who preceded him in death on April 3, 2021.



Brian and Katie, both being truck drivers, shared many memories on the open road and often traveled together, sharing the duties. He enjoyed the scenery and peacefulness the drive offered, and they were fortunate to visit many sites in all parts of the US and Canada. Brian will also be remembered for time spent at Swan Rubber and lastly had worked as a metal fabricator for A&G Manufacturing, where he was employed for about 20 years.



Brian considered himself a “good ole boy” and enjoyed many nights with family and friends sitting around the campfire. He enjoyed trips to a casino while on the road and for relaxation, he liked watching Forged in Fire on the History Channel.

In addition to his mom, Judy Short, Brian is survived by a son, Anthony T. Short of Corvallis, Oregon; brothers, Scott (Christine) Short of Bucyrus, Greg (Diana) Short of Crestline, Dale Short of O’Fallon, Ill.; brother-in-law, Alex Miller, Jr. as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.



Along with his wife and dad, Brian was preceded in death by grandparents, Tracy and Jo (Franks) Short and Thurman and Leota (Sites) Gobrecht; father and mother-in-law, Alex Sr. and Mary Miller; as well as other extended family members.



In honor of both Brian and Katie, family will receive friends on Saturday, August 28 at Wise Funeral Service from 4-7 pm when Pastor Josh Cole will conclude the evening with prayers of comfort now that Brian and Katie are resting together. Donations can be made payable to Operation HOPE and will be accepted through the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on his tribute page.
