Beverley Y. Long, 82, of Bucyrus died peacefully early Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Altercare of Bucyrus after years of failing health.
She was born in Bucyrus on July 21, 1935 to the late Charles H. and Esther E. (McGee) Heath and graduated from Bucyrus High School in 1953. Shortly thereafter, she began working for the Second National Bank. Over 45 years, the bank changed ownership seven times before her retirement as a customer service representative in 1999.
Bev married Robert E. Long on May 25, 1956 and he survives along with their two sons, Mitchell (Sandra) Long and Ty (Wanda) Long, both of Bucyrus; two granddaughters, Kendra (Allen) Dornbirer and Kelsie (Eric) Kocher; two step-grandchildren, Stephanie (Darin) Brown and Mark Beran; four great grandchildren, Warren and Roger Dornbirer, Nicole Tschanen, and Jacob Bowman; one sister, Eileen Lust of Bucyrus; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Charles, Wilson, Jay “Skip”, and Gerald Heath and two sisters, Esther Colcord and Joan “Pat” Kennedy.
Bev was proud of her family and loved seeing her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Women of the Moose, and AmVets Post 27 Auxiliary. She was happiest when visiting a BINGO Hall or a casino, usually with her friends Brenda and Ruthie. She and Bob enjoyed fishing trips to Canada as well as visiting casinos in Vegas and other parts of the country. At home, she enjoyed the company of her dogs including her current poodle Casey.
A graveside funeral will be held in Oakwood Cemetery where friends and family are asked to meet on Friday, September 8 at 1:30 pm with Pastor Mike Greenler officiating. Those wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to make them payable to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or the Humane Society Serving Crawford County and give through Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus.
