Betty A. Raybuck, 91, of Grove City and formerly of Bucyrus, died early Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Monterey Care Center in Grove City.
She was born June 27, 1922 in Patterson, Ohio to the late Oscar and Nell (Hill) Geiser. The Geisers later moved to Bucyrus and Betty graduated from Bucyrus High School. She became a R.N. at Mansfield General Hospital School of Nursing and later joined US Navy where she served in the Nurse Corps and was discharged as an Ensign. She married Donald J. Raybuck, a fellow sailor and Bucyrian, in Long Beach, Calif. after they were discharged and returned to Bucyrus where Betty worked at Bucyrus Community Hospital until she and Don had children. Don preceded her in death August 28, 2011.
Betty loved her family very much, always supporting her children through the PTA and their sporting events, then enjoying keeping up with her grandchildren as they came along. She and Don enjoyed traveling, spending a week away throughout the region or going to Florida for deep sea fishing. She was an excellent cook who always made holiday gatherings special. Since moving to Grove City, Betty lived at Carriage Court Assisted Living where she enjoyed Bingo, activities and church services. She worshipped at First Presbyterian Church when living in Bucyrus and became a member of Grove City UMC after moving.
Betty is survived by two children, Linda Raybuck of Columbus and Tim Raybuck of Fairfield; two grandchildren, Amy Marie (Scott) Mancini and Matt (Amanda) Raybuck; and four great grandchildren, Sydney and Mason Mancini and Stella and Liam Raybuck.
In addition to her parents and husband of 66 years, Betty was preceded in death by her son, Ned Raybuck and brother, Oscar Geiser.
The Raybuck family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 30 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where her funeral will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor John Cory officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors by the US Navy Honor Guard.
Memorial donations may be given to a charity of the donor’s choice through the funeral home and memories can be shared in the Memorial Guestbook below.
