Betty M. Reynolds

Betty Marie Reynolds, 99, went to be with the Lord on January 17, 2017, at Altercare of Bucyrus following a long twelve-year journey with Alzheimer’s.



Betty was born August 8, 1917 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Ravaud R. and Lois (Wilson) Thornberry. Shortly after birth, her family moved to Belmont County where she grew up and graduated from Barnesville High School in 1935. She attended Bliss College in Columbus, graduating in 1937 and then worked as a legal secretary in Columbus.



On October 1, 1938, she married LeRoy R. Reynolds. Betty worked and remained in Columbus while LeRoy worked for the War Department. After his return, they moved to Marion and he worked for Marion Power Shovel. The two traveled the United States and other countries for several years until their daughter was born. The three enjoyed many adventures together during their summer months.



Betty was an active member of Community United Methodist Church, Garden Club, Marion’s Artisan Guild and was an avid reader belonging to the Marion Friends of the Library. She always enjoyed having her daughter’s friends at the house and chauffeured many of them to activities. She moved to Bucyrus in 1994 to be closer to her daughter and family.



Betty is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Alan) Bacon of Bucyrus; three grandchildren, Sean (Angie) Bacon, Anthony (Elizabeth) Bacon and Natalie (Robert) Motter all of Bucyrus and several great-grandchildren. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy and a sister, Lila (Anthony) Uliano.



Funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21 at Wise Funeral Service with Pastor William Strader Jr., officiating followed by a graveside funeral in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Belmont County.
