Betty L. Baird

Betty L. Baird, 82, of Troy Twp., Morrow County died peacefully Friday morning, April 22, 2016 with her dear family close by at her home after battling cancer.



She was born August 16, 1933 in Mansfield to the late Dale Haffa and Mary (Schenk) Haffa Balyeat. She grew up in Mansfield and moved to Sulphur Springs where she attended school and met Ned L. Baird whom she married October 16, 1949. He preceded her in death November 16, 2007.



Betty was a homemaker and gifted quilter, making countless quilts for family, friends, and charities. She collected dolls, enjoyed baking with her daughters, and was a former member of the Ontario Friendship Guild and Mansfield Millennium Quilt Guild. Betty worshipped at Johnsville Grace United Methodist Church.



Betty is survived by children, Charles (Dorothy) Baird of Chatfield, Mike Baird of Bucyrus, Judy Baker of Lexington, Karen (Joe) Cartee of Bucyrus, Jim (Amy) Baird of Middletown, and Debi (Rick) Hoover of Mansfield; grandchildren, Jerame Cartee, Jason Cartee, Dusty Baird, Paul Baker, S.Sgt. Joshua (Sgt. Roxie) Cartee, Krisna Rowalt, Brandy Chapman, Emily Baird, Jordan Baird, Victor Baker, and Ricky Hoover; great grandchildren, Zac, Dylan, Caleb, Mitchell, Blayden, Rylan, Dallas, Danny, Evelyn, Jocelyn, and one expected; brother, Richard (Marion) Haffa of Michigan.



In addition to her parents and husband of 58 years, Betty was preceded in death by sister, Donna Baird; brothers, James Haffa and Dennis Balyeat; and daughter-in-law, Mary Stover.

Funeral services will be at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St. in Bucyrus on Wednesday, April 27 at 12 Noon with Pastors Karen Wagenhals and Linda Heinlen officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 am until the service begins. Private burial in Union Cemetery, Sulphur Springs will be held on a later date.
