She was born August 15, 1927 in Bucyrus to the late Glenn M. and Clara L (Ebner) Cotsamire and was a 1945 graduate of Tiro High School. Shortly after graduation, Betty married her high school sweetheart, John W. Pfahler and he survives. In addition to caring for her family as a homemaker, Betty worked several years as a bookkeeper for both Ken Smith Chevrolet and Dan Wingate Ford. She also worked as a clerk in the Title Department of the Clerk of Courts and concluded her work outside her home with AAA.
Betty was very active in following her grandchildren with their activities and she found pleasure in sending them cards to brighten their day. She spent many days in her swimming pool, looked forward to attending Community Concerts with John and she was a longtime and active member of the Col. Crawford Lions Club.
In addition to her husband John, Betty is survived by four children, David (Sandra) Pfahler of Galion, Sue Ellen (Howard) Nickel of Lafontaine, Indiana, Kathy (Randy) Burton of Bucyrus, and Kimberly (Doug) Brown of N. Robinson; five grandchildren, Amy Vidrick, Anissa (Lamar) Haney, Andrew (Rachel) Pfahler, Steve (Kayleigh) Brown, and Jenny (Ryan) Clingman; along with 19 great grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her four siblings, Thelma Stiner, Evelyn Beach, Garnet Shifley, and Glenn Cotsamire, Jr.
Her family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 20 at Wise Funeral Service, where her funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday with Pastor Mike Corwin officiating. Burial will follow in Biddle Cemetery.
