Betty Hill, 81, of Bucyrus, died unexpectedly on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at home with family.
She was born December 23, 1942 in Franklin, Kentucky to the late S. Leon and Jewel D. (Jones) Perdue. A short time later, they moved to the area, and she eventually got married. From that marriage came two sons, who she devoted her life to, and provided the best care that a mother could offer. She spent several years working at Miracle Mart until the store closed and then she took a job at Struble Drug Store until they closed.
Throughout her life, Betty maintained a personal relationship with God and had attended the Pentecostal Church of God in Bucyrus. She felt happiest around family, and over the years, they created many memories while joking and laughing with each other as well as playing many games of Phase 10, her favorite card game. She enjoyed time spent on her computer, perusing Facebook, and probably commenting more than she should. Betty also liked playing Sudoku puzzles to keep her mind sharp. She was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and was practically glued to the TV when they took the field. She also enjoyed watching court shows and Fox News. Music was important to Betty and Elvis was her favorite, but she also blared the radio while listening to old county legends such as Johnny Cash and others. Betty entered every Publishers Clearing House sweepstake and had everything planned out for her check presentation. Unfortunately that didn’t happen.
Betty was a strong and independent person who selflessly cared for those she loved. She will be deeply missed by her son, Lanny (Karen) Hill; grandchildren, Tabitha (Jamie) Potter, Tony Hill and Ian (Megan Strohm) Hill; great grandchildren, Abby, Ally and Livy Potter and Anthony and Ashlyn Hill; siblings, Sandy (Dave) Tuttle, Don (Cheryl) Perdue and Vicky (Bishop Ted) Thomas; daughter-in-law, Kathy Lawhorn as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Betty was preceded in death by her son, Lysle G. Hill; nephew, Craig Tuttle; and daughter-in-law, Bets Hill.
A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1 – 5 pm Sunday, March 17 at New Day Ministries. If desired, donations can be made payable to a charity of the donor’s choice and will be accepted through Wise Funeral Service. Expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her guestbook.
