Barbara Auck Ellis

Barbara Sue (Auck) Ellis, 48, of Odessa, Fla. died peacefully Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Zusman House Hospice in Columbus, Ohio.

Barb was born July 14, 1966 in Bucyrus; the youngest child of Wayne Auck and the late Naomi (Luidhardt) Auck. She graduated with the Wynford High School Class of 1984 and attended Bluffton College. After working in Columbus, Barb made her way to Florida where she worked in various restaurants before studying nursing and working as a caregiver to home health and hospice patients. Barb returned to Ohio this summer to visit family and friends and learned she had small-cell lung cancer.

Barb was an adventurous, feisty and talkative free spirit. She enjoyed shopping and staying up on the latest trends and she adored her canine children, having a number of dogs over the years.

Barb is survived by her dad, Wayne Auck; siblings, Cindy (Dennis) Dunn, Allen (Eric) Auck, Tami (David) Crum and Sherry Overmyer (fiancé Tim Henry); companion, Jerry Phillips; along with several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and her beloved dogs, Bessie and Gabby.

In addition to her mother, Naomi Auck, Barb was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles and Clara Auck and Calvin and Mary Luidhardt.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 14 in the Evangelical Pietist Church in Chatfield where the Auck family will receive friends one hour prior, from 10-11 a.m. She will be laid to rest in Lust Cemetery.
