Ashley Y. (Gantzler) Butler, 40, of Galion died unexpectedly of natural causes on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at OSU Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born in Bucyrus on December 27, 1981 to the late Thomas L. Gantzler and Joyce (Teets) Barciz who survives. Ashley fostered a love for music and the arts at an early age. She was active in the Bucyrus High School Marching Band, serving as field commander her junior and senior years. She also played the lead in school musicals and performed on the Bucyrus Little Theatre stage. After graduating in 2000, Ashley attended NC State in Mansfield. She was working from home as an assessor for nursing home patients.
Ashley will be remembered for being tech savvy with a bubbly personality and strong, firm beliefs. She rooted for the underdog and was a fierce advocate for those with Autism and other struggles. She was usually seen with earbuds, listening to her favorite bands and saw many concerts over her life, especially Van Halen. She loved sports as well and followed the Packers, Indians, and Buckeyes.
Ashley is survived by her son, Ivan Butler; mother, Joyce (Joe Sr.) Barciz; boyfriend, Matt Morasco; stepchildren, Sara, Tara, and Tommy Morasco; stepbrother, Joe (Deb) Barciz Jr.; and many extended family. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by stepbrother, Michael Barciz.
As private services are being held, friends can remember Ashley with a memorial donation payable to Autism Speaks or Humane Society Serving Crawford County and given through Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820.
