Arthur W. Cover, 86, of rural Bucyrus died early Saturday, June 30, 2018 after months of failing health.
He was born February 15, 1932 in Lykens, Twp. to the late John W. and Lena M. (Ruth) Cover. He graduated from Lykens High School in 1950. Art, an Army veteran, served from 1952-1954 and was stationed in Korea. Following his discharge, he worked at Timken and helped his parents with the family farm.
Art will be remembered for his love of the land and as a capable shepherd of his beloved Suffolk sheep. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing squash and gourds. Art was a proud member of the NRA, the Chatfield Evangelical Pietist Church, and enjoyed supporting the local 4-H clubs. He also enjoyed beekeeping in his early years.
Art is survived by his sister, Miriam E. Karcher of Bucyrus; nieces, Karen (Jim) Ehret and Celeste (Greg) York; grandnephew, Dylon Ehret; and grandniece, Tiarra Ehret. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, John E. Karcher.
Funeral services for Art will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, July 5 at Wise Funeral Service with Gene Luidhardt, SAM officiating. Friends may call prior to the service from 11-11:50 am and should not feel obliged to dress up. Please come as you are. Burial will follow the funeral in Brokensword Cemetery.
