Anna Jane Hawk

Anna Jane Hawk, 96, of Findlay and longtime resident of Bucyrus passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay.



She was born January 18, 1920 in Marion County to the late Daniel and Nellie (Cain) Winters and was raised in Caledonia by her grandparents, the late Daniel and Anna Winters. Anna Jane graduated from Caledonia High School and married Charles Frederick Burrey. He preceded her in death in 1960 and she married Jesse Hawk in 1972. He preceded her in death in 1983.



Anna Jane worked for 33 ½ years at General Electric. She was very active in the Bucyrus community, including the Order of the Eastern Star where she was Worthy Matron among other roles; Past President of American Legion Post 181 Auxiliary; Grand Representative of Saskatchewan; GE Red Hatters; Rainbow Girls helper; Past President of Lady Shrine; Honorary member of the Lucky 40s CB Club and always willing to help wherever there was a need.



She was a member of St. John’s UCC and attended the Bucyrus Church of God where she was lovingly known as “Mom Hawk.” She loved to travel, shop, go out to eat and remained very independent and active until just recently. Anna Jane was a lovely, kind, gentle and elegant lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.



Anna Jane is survived by her daughter, CarolynAnn Smith of Bucyrus; three grandchildren, Tami (Preston) Risner, Dawn Gill Zarcone and Kris (Wendy) Holdcraft; 10 great grandchildren; 12 great-great grandchildren; brother, Merle Winters of Shelby; one niece; four nephews; and special grandma to Fred L. Buckner.



Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 27 from 4-7 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus. Eastern Star service will be held that evening at 7:00 and her funeral will be in the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 am. Burial will follow in Caledonia Cemetery.



Donations are encouraged to be given to Wise Funeral Service for the family to distribute to various charities and memories can be shared on Anna Jane’s Tribute Wall.
