Ann E. Miller

Ann E. Miller, 78, of Bucyrus, passed peacefully Monday, August 1, 2022 at Westbrook Assisted Living in Upper Sandusky in the presence of family while listening to Goodbye by Kenny Rogers.

Ann was born July 15, 1944 in Bucyrus to the late Richard D. and Jane A. (Nelson) Miller and was a 1962 graduate of Col. Crawford High School. She went onto earn her Registered Nurse Degree from Mansfield General Nursing School and proudly cared for patients until retiring at the age of 69. She worked at Bucyrus Community Hospital, the office of Dr. Bowersock, Crawford County Public Health, where she served as the Director of Nursing and concluded her nursing career in the office of Dr. Frazier. Following her nursing career, she always looked forward to meeting former co-workers for lunch to simply catch up on life.

Ann was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she played piano, sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. She also served as a 4-H Advisor while her children were active and she spent 16 years on the Col. Crawford School Board.

Along with her love of music, baking was another favorite of Ann’s and she will certainly be remembered for her famous chocolate chip cookies, butter scotch and peach pies. She was a talented seamstress who made many costumes, baby outfits and could repair anything. In her younger years, she spent many hours working in her rather large garden and produced some great tasting sweetcorn and tomatoes. Ann was a “crafty” lady and enjoyed creating many shelves, benches and county figurines when they were popular. She was a health-conscious person and enjoyed her six-mile walks on a daily basis and when at home she enjoyed the companionship of her cat, Sophie. But all these things listed above, her grandchildren made her smile the most. She actively attended as many events as able and always wanted to know how they were doing and what they are into.

Ann is survived by three children, Scott (Joyce) Zaebst, Amy Zaebst and Julie (Mike) Feichtner; seven grandchildren, Mitchell Zaebst, Makenna Zaebst, Jonathon Zaebst, Elizabeth (Jordan) Salyer and their daughter, Amelia, Morgan (Hunter) Mercer, Gavin Feichtner and Carson Feichtner; three siblings, Linda Beam, Tom (Joanne) Miller and Lee (Lynne) Miller as well as many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held in Oakwood Cemetery and if desired, donations can be made payable to the Humane Society Serving Crawford County. Memories and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her tribute wall.
