Angie Serrano

Angela L. Serrano, 39, of Galion, died unexpectedly Friday, May 16, 2014.

She was born July 24, 1974 in Colorado Springs, Colo. the daughter of Greg Darmenio of Tampa, Fla and Deborah (Appleby) Beach of Nashville, Tenn. Angie had the opportunity of living in various locations throughout the country but always felt most at home in Winter Park, Fla.

She was a very intelligent person who was active in 4-H during elementary school and received the Best All-Around Award before entering 7th grade for which she and her family were proud. She graduated from Winter Park High School in 1992 where she sang in the choir, was a member of the National Honor Society and swam on the Swim team.  She attended college at the University of Central Florida where she was a proud member of Kappa Delta and completed her Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice at Southern College in Orlando.

In 1994 she married Rafael Serrano, father of their three children, Andre Serrano, Kasandra Serrano and Nicolas Serrano, all living in Ashland. Angie is also survived by a sister, Kristein Miller of Hendersonville, Tenn; her Godmother, Annette Andrews and a large extended family spread out across the country.

Angie was quick-witted and always maintained a dry sense of humor. Whether splitting wood in her backyard or working at Bill Harris and Nagy’s Body Shops, Angie wasn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty. She enjoyed taking pictures and always accepted an animal in need of a home. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed many outdoor activities such as cooking out, camping, fishing or just sitting around a fire which brought friends and family together.

Her family will gather with friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Wise Funeral Service, 129 W. Warren St., Bucyrus, Ohio 44820. At 7 p.m. that evening everyone will be invited outside for a small bonfire, family sharing period and balloon release in her memory.

Her family specifically requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be given to the Ashland High School Band Boosters through the funeral home. Those wanting to share a memory may do so in the Memorial Guestbook below.
