Alice L. Rister

Alice Rister, 77, of Bucyrus died peacefully early Sunday morning, August 14, 2016 at Heartland of Bucyrus where family and friends had been coming in to visit on her birthday.



She was born August 13, 1939 in Elmore, Ohio to the late John P. and Ida A. (Kindle) Johnson. She attended school in Elmore and was the only classmate at her reunion to remember their “Rally Cry.” Alice was married to Harlan Rister on June 1, 1957 and made their home in Northwest Ohio and Kentucky before settling in Bucyrus. Harlan preceded her in death April 21, 2000.



Alice loved gathering with family and friends and enjoyed many cups of coffee and glasses of iced tea while people watching from her porch. She and Harlan used to visit the Lake Erie shore and since his death, she looked forward to socializing at the Crawford County Council on Aging and loved all of their drivers and employees. She worshipped at Victory In Truth Ministries; liked watching sports, especially Ohio State, NASCAR, and baseball; and was kept company at home by her vast collection of Teddy Bears.



She is survived by six children, Wanda (Dan) Lutz, Becky Snavely, David (Tracy) Rister, Robert (Ruth) Sayre, Will (Rose) Sayre, and Roy (Tonya) Rister; son-in-law, Mark Cobb; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.



In addition to her parents and husband of nearly 43 years, Alice was preceded in death by daughter, Anita Cobb; son-in-law, Lloyd Snavely; grandsons, Donald Lutz and Ricky Bell; great grandson, Ricky Gault; and siblings, Carl, Sarah, Mary, Clyde, and Clarabelle.



Alice’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17 from 11 am – 1 pm at Wise Funeral Service in Bucyrus where her funeral will be held, also on Wednesday, at 2:00 pm with Pastor JC Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.



Memorial donations may be given to Crawford County Council on Aging or Victory In Truth Ministries through the funeral home. Memories and photos can be shared on Alice’s Tribute Wall.
