Jane E. (Espy) Fischer

Jane Fischer, 72, of Worthington and formerly of Marion and Bucyrus, passed peacefully on Monday, April 26, 2021 at her daughter’s home where she had been cared for following a battle with cancer.

Jane was born on August 31, 1948 in Marion to the late William C. and Vonna Mae (Clark) Espy. She was raised in Cardington and was a 1966 graduate of Cardington High School. Jane had a strong will to learn and went onto complete radiology school at Marion General Hospital; earn her RN degree and completed her Master’s degree in paternal childcare from The Ohio State University. Throughout her career, she worked radiology and nuclear medicine at Bucyrus Community Hospital; labor and delivery at Galion Community Hospital and NICU and labor and delivery at OSU Medical Center, where she also taught women’s health. In more recent years, Jane’s longtime companion, Chuck Daiber, taught her to operate heavy equipment and she enjoyed assisting with his excavating business, where she was responsible for the beginning of foundations of a few area businesses. Jane’s will to excel never ceased and she lived for teaching others what she learned through her nurturing personality.

Jane was a member of Good Hope Lutheran Church; active in Planned Parenthood and Turning Point in Marion, where she served on their board.

Jane will be remembered as a bubbly person with a great sense of humor. She spent a lot of time working around her flower beds and in her garden and was also a gifted seamstress. She and Chuck enjoyed taking their Corvettes to car shows and they enjoyed their annual trip to North Reddington Beach in St. Petersburg, Fl. She was active in planning her class reunions and enjoyed time spent with classmates. Jane enjoyed the many conversations with her daughters, and she cherished time spent with her cats over the years. She enjoyed a good meal and for relaxation, Jane enjoyed snuggling with her cats while watching Sci-fi movies.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Tony) Patrilla; foster daughters, Shelley Morrow and Debbie Walter; many foster grandchildren and great grandchildren; longtime companion, Chuck Daiber; twin brother, James Espy and sister, JoAnn (Jack) Joy.

Jane was preceded in death by her foster daughter, Sherry Morgan and three siblings, Jaunita (Bill) Travis, Betty Postle and John Kuntz.

Her family will host a memorial gathering at the Pavilion at Aumiller Park on Saturday, May 22. The remembrance will begin with a brief service at 12:30 pm led by Pastor Tanyce Addison followed by food, fellowship and sharing of memories until 4 pm.

Her family specifically requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made payable to any animal shelter or Domestic Violence shelter in her name. Memories and expressions of sympathy are encouraged to be shared on her tribute wall.
